About us

Our history

We created the New Way for Belarus in December 2006 as a supporting platform for the Third Way web-community’s activities in Belarus. During that time we had significant problems with Belarusian authorities because of satirical cartoons about life in Belarus we had created. Our people – Pavel Marozau and Andrey Abozau – had to leave Belarus and seek for political asylum in Estonia. During the past two years our organization has significantly expanded its scope of activity, it has built its own image and has become the leading Belarusian project organization in Estonia. It has realized a number of projects and initiatives (both independently and in partnership with other organizations) in the spheres of information, education, and culture fostering better understanding of what is happening in Belarus, as well as uniting Belarusian Diaspora in the region, educating young generation of Belarusians, and providing new opportunities for dissemination of uncensored information in Belarus. During this period we have been accorded recognition from not only Belarusians, but also from the side of Estonian government and European Commission.

Our people

Every organization is first and foremost the people who work for it. And we are proud that our organization has managed to engage both Estonians, and Belarusians, and Estonian Russian. Among our members are experienced professionals from Estonian public sector, Belarusian students, Belarusian political refugees in Estonia. The organization is governed by the Board constituted by Estonians and Belarusians on an equal footing. Its members are public figures from Belarus and Estonia: Alari Rammo, Pavel Marozau, Yurii Yurkevich. The executive director is Pavel Marozau and financial director is Alari Rammo. We also have a project assistant working with us: Ol’ga Yakubovskaya, and communications expert:

Our priorities

Our priorities lie in activities aimed at integrating Belarusian Diaspora into Estonian society, nurturing cultural and language identity of Belarusians in Estonia, introducing best pieces of Belarusian culture, interesting creative personalities and professionals from Belarus to Estonians. Also we work on developing potential of the new generation of leaders from Belarus and Belarusian Diaspora in Europe and the United States.
